What do they do after getting a root canal?!

Question: What do they do after getting a root canal!?
I just got a root canal on my bottom front tooth last Thursday!. I have an appt with my regular dentist for tomorrow to get a permanent filling!. Well, I've never had anything done to my teeth (fillings, cavities, etc) just this root canal last week!. I was wondering what happens at this next appt and will it be all done!? LIke how do they do the permanent filling!? Will it hurt!? Will it make the back of my tooth smoother, b/c right now its pretty rough!. How long does it usually take!. I'll take any kind of advice/helpful tips/hints you can give me!. Like I said, I've never had any kind of work done and this was only b/c of an accident YEARS ago!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
your dentist is going to remove the temporary filling and cotton pellets that the endodontist placed!. There should not be any anesthesia!. Filling material varies with the dentist and patient's preference!. I use tooth colored fillings on my patients (I don't have any silver fillings in my office)!. The procedure should not take more than 15-20 minutes once the dentist starts the procedure!. Once the filling is done, run your tongue over the area to see if it is smooth, if not - let the dentist know what the area is not smooth!. Hope this helped!

There are times when I recommend a crown in the front!. Usually it is because of discoloration (tooth turns brown/reddish) !.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The root canal removed the rooms from that tooth and implanted a plug!. At your next appointment they will take a mold of the plug and build a porcelain or gold tooth for it!. It won't be ready for a few weeks, and they they will place it!. It will feel strange for a week or two, but they you don't even realize it anymore, it feels just like your real tooth!. The worst is over with!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your dentist will just replace the temporary filling with a tooth colored filling in the back of the tooth!. Some dentists won't even numb you up, it really just depends!. You shouldn't feel anything at all since there is no live tissue inside the tooth!. Since it is a lower front tooth you most likely wont need a crown!. I had a root canal on a lower anterior last october and my doc just put a small white filling in the back!.
Crowns are usually put on molars because they are under a lot of pressure and need a crown to protect them from breakage!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
