It is nitrous oxide and I used to get it all the time!. I am now 28!. It is safe, they will make sure he/she gets a medically safe amount and doesn't OD or anything!. It will make him silly, feel a little high, out of it, etc!., therefore, not really paying attention to what is going on (the root canal)!. It does not make the pain any less, it just makes you not care what is going on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Nitrous oxide is an inhalled anesthesia agent!. It minimizes pain and creates a semi-euphoric state!. The user can become unconscious if too much is used, but when under any type of anesthesia a patient should be under constant monitoring anyway!.
