Wisdom teeth out on Thursday?!

Question: Wisdom teeth out on Thursday!?
I can handle pain, swelling, but the one thing that I cannot handle at all is being impaired!. I will never drink alcohol, or take medication unless I REALLY need it!. I'm a paranoid guy, and I need to be aware as much as I can!. After the surgery, unless it's killing me, Tylenol only, no Vicodin!. I know I'm going to be slightly impaired from the anesthetic, but how can I minimize that (short of going at it awake)!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

sleep as much as you canWww@Answer-Health@Com

Actually Tylenol would not do much good!.

If you do not have a history of thrombocytopenia!.!.!.!.

According to the Medication Use Guidelines I use as a nurse to recommend the best practice to docs, Ibuprofen (600MG) is about 3 times more effective than a low dose of morphine when it comes to bone pain!. You should get the oral surgeon to prescribe it though!.

If he doesn't ask if he could check the evidenced based medicine current standard for bone pain management where you prefer no impairment!.

This aside, science shows that you will heal faster if you do not have pain!.

Believe it or not, the safest pain killer is morphine!. It totally clears from the body and has almost no side effects other than you cannot drive or operate machinery while on it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I too do not like being impaired however when I had my wisdom teeth removed, (all 4 cut out at once), I opted for twilight sedation instead of general anesthetic!. It was a nice, relaxed, sleepy but slightly conscious feeling!. I was out of it most of the rest of the day and all night!. However, the next morning I was alert!. Very alert, actually!. I did use pain medication, Lorcet, for two days following the surgery, and then only Tylenol!. If you can use twilight sedation, I'd go for it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

there is really nothing you can do!. I dont even think there is a drug strong enough to overcome anestesia!. But, being impaired from anestesia isnt a bad thing!. The best advice i can give you is just go to sleep as soon as you wake up from the surgery! the longer your asleep, the faster the medication will seem to wear off!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It truly is not that bad!. It is over quickly and I did not feel the way I did when I had to have heavy sedatives for other surgery!. I have a friend who was awake and just numbed because she gets very ill from anesthesia!. She too said it was not that bad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i don't see any other way than shots in your mouth, that is what i did!. believe me you will need pain meds!. stronger than Tylenol!. good luck with it!. I'll pray for!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Don't sweat it! It'll be easier than you think, and less painful, too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

if your not in pane it mite not be necessary for them to be taken outWww@Answer-Health@Com
