How much does it hurt to get wisdom teeth surgically removed?!

Question: How much does it hurt to get wisdom teeth surgically removed!?
I just went to the dentist and they told me that I have to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed but they haven't broken through my gums so I have to get it done surgically!. I'm really worried about this because I have heard that it's really painful and they told me to get it done this summer when I have a few weeks that I don't have much going on!. For those of you who have had it done, how much does it hurt both during and after getting them removed!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The good thing for you is they will probably be putting your under intravenous anesthesia!. This means you will be zonked out and not feeling much of anything the whole time!. You may be awake and at least have some perception of what's going on, but you won't feel anything!. This will last a few hours after the surgery too!.

For the first few days you're going to be sore, but depending on how your mouth holds up you might not be in too much pain!. They will be giving you some very good pain killers such as oxycodone, percaset, etc!. (I cannot spell those, sorry!), which is going to be a God-send if the holes start acting up!. The most important thing you need to watch out for is the sockets drying out, which can be a big pain in the butt, and very painful!.

Take care of yourself and you'll be back and functional in a few days!. You'll be taking it easy, and taking medications, for a week or likely more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In all honestly, I nearly died on the table - I had a bad reaction to the gas and stopped breathing, they were only able to cut one out because I jerked my head while under and they cut from the back tooth all the way to my front tooth - had stitches across my mouth!.

Then I had to go to the hospital and have the rest removed - they had to use IV drugs to knock me out !.!.!.

Most painful thing I have ever done!.

I lived on water and cream potatoes - popped percocet like candy and was still miserable!.!.!.!.!.!.

Has 2 dry sockets and had to be rushed to the ER to get 2 shots of demerol to knock me back out,!.!.!.!.!.

But that was just me - hopefully everyone else had a better experience!. My husband had his out and it was a breeze!

My advice - do it while you are young!. I think I waited to long - I put it off for about 10 years or more!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on how impacted the teeth are!. If they are really jammed in and welded to the jaw, it can be quite painful!. Mine were taken out early because it was obvious I wouldn't have enough room anyway, so it wasn't any worse than having any old tooth pulled!. Took aspirin for a couple days after for the pain and that was all!. I have seen other people come away like they had major surgery-chipmunk face and bruises, heavy painkillers!. I think it is one of those things that it is best to get over with as soon as you are aware of the need!. It only gets worse if you delay!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No, the REMOVAL isn't painful [you may hear a 'crunch' sound & some tightness while they come out!. The dentist will ask you if you feel pain while he's doing it! Just point-&-'groan': you'll have proper 'numbing' & pain medication BEFORE pulling them & more added should you need it at all!. AFTER: yes, there will be some pain (you've had surgery!)!. That's when you take the medication your dentist will give you!. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS; don't 'double' unless he says so! NO alcohol!. You must be having lots of trouble now to get all 4 wisdoms removed; no more, after they're out & healed! It will be worth it!. Good luck! :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had an unusually large number of wisdom teeth to be removed - all impacted, and migrating to various odd parts of my mouth!.

Trust me: getting them out is a breeze!. I only spent 3 days in hospital, and the greatest difficulty I had was returning to university and realising I had 20 minutes before an exam!.

I passed, despite the painkillers :) Hope your experience is also good!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No pain during as i was numb and asleep!. I did wake up in the middle of it and they told me to go back to sleep which i did!.!.!.

Pain after is bearable!. I had a little swelling and my checks looked a little black and blue!. I had it done on a Friday and by Monday i was back in school!. It will be hard to eat for a while and you'll need to keep the holes clean, dentist should give you a bottle for that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i had all four of mine removed surgically!.!.!. its not too bad!.!. its hurts a bunch but it lessens everyday!. my cheeks swelled and it was hard to eat for a few days!.!.!.!.!. i only had two removed at a time tho so it wasnt too too bad!.!. its much better since they are out because my gums dont hurt and there isnt anymore pressure on my teeth

it didnt hurt while they were doing it, they gave me the "laughing gas" and really i just listened to music closed my eyes and i didnt feel a thing!.!.!.!. there was some weird circus thing going on (in my mind) in my mouth at the same time!.!.!. but thats just a result of the gasWww@Answer-Health@Com

i have yet to get mine removed as well and im terrified! my friend got hers removed last year and her face puffed up really bad!. she said it hurt to even open her mouth to talk!.!.!.!. yikes! wish you the bestWww@Answer-Health@Com

I had my wisdom teeth removed about 6 months ago and im only 14!.!. The first couple days it will hurt, but after that they seem to feel alright!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had to have 5 teeth taken out!. My wisdoms (lower two impacted) and another tooth that had infection in the upper jaw!. The surgery itself, considering I was knocked out I felt nothing!. And continued to feel nothing until the next day!. When I got home I couldn't fall asleep which falling asleep is suggested!. I constantly had to change gauze pads that were coated with blood and saliva about every 5-10 minutes!. This was one of the worst parts of recovery!. A few days passed and I could hardly eat anything with out extreme discomfort!. And this lasted for about 2 weeks!. I lost about 15 pounds only eating soup and drinking a lot of liquids!. My cheeks swelled up and made me look like my cheeks were stuffed!. After a while the swelling went down and then bruising started to occur right around my jaw!. Yellow bruising!. Depending on your doctor they may or may not sew up the holes where the teeth were removed!. I was lucky enough to get sutures while my sister didn't!. She had to get a squirt syringe and blow all the food out of the holes in her gums!. The sutures fell out after about 2 weeks!. As i was warned before the surgery I might have some permanent numbness in my jaw!. And my jaw stayed numb right near my chin for about 2 weeks also!. While this a very tedious recovery it is necessary and so don't worry about it too much!. Also take advantage of the many pain pills you will be prescribed after the surgery!. I know I did! Don't worry a lot about it!. You will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
