Luckily, periodontitis is normally a slowly progressing disease, but it is also irreversible!. (Periodontitis is when the bone around your teeth disappears as a reaction to a buildup of calculus (calcified plaque) or tooth decay!.) If it progresses (usually over the course of years), you will lose enough bone that your teeth can no longer be supported and will become loose and fall out!.

The treatment for this is a full cleaning and root planing (cleaning of the roots), as you say your dentist did!. However, the MOST important factor in how well you will heal is your own oral hygiene at home!. If you aren't brushing twice per day for two minutes and flossing, then no matter what the dentist does, the periodontal disease will not go away!.

In your case, your best bet is to book another recall appointment for another cleaning (every 3, 6 or 9 months is reasonable depending on your specific case), and then talk to a dental hygienist about your at-home routine!. If you eliminate the cause of the disease, then the disease should go away too!. If it doesn't, then your dentist will refer you to a doctor to figure out what is causing the problem, but only when the most obvious and likely causes have been ruled out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I think you should see another dentist too!. The rinse should have helped the gums and your jaw shouldn't hurt like that!. Don't accept this torture any longer and go get a second opinion!. Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
