Not at all bad for you!.
Believe it or not chewing gum is good for your teeth and gums - as long as it is sugar free gum that is!.
Chewing gum stimulates salivary flow!. Having a moist mouth is vital as saliva protects teeth from decay!. It forms a microfilm on the teeth, it can prevent pathogenic microorganimsms form adhering to the teeth, as well as attacking micro organisms in the mouth that cause cavities!.
Plus the flushing effect of saliva causes a lot of bacteria to be swallowed and it can be neutralized by the stomach acid!.
Interestingly, when kids are really stubborn and refuse to brush your teeth dentists would encourage them to chew sugar free gum at least as it usually helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It depends on if the gum is sugar-free or not!.
Sugar-free gum is actually good for your teeth, because it stimulates saliva which is a buffer so the pH in your mouth is not acidic enough to erode your teeth!. There is also gum that is sweetened with xylitol, that is supposedly even better for preventing cavities!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
