The purpose of rubber bands is to move your teeth!. Your orthodontist tells you how you should put them in and by you puttin them in they help move the teeth to where he/she wants them!. I had to wear some to pull my right canine teeth down because it was not alligned with the other teeth!. I wore the rubber bands the way my orthodontist told me to and then my riight canine tooth moved down and in line with my other teeth just like he wanted it to be!. Rubber bands help in the movement of teeth to help you get your braces off sooner!. Good luck with your braces and always wear your rubber bands as you are told!. If you are assigned rubber bands wear them all the time except for brushing your teeth and eating meals!. ( I never took mine out for a quick 2 minute snack or a quick drink)Www@Answer-Health@Com

The rubber bands may be used to correct jaw alignment and other jaw problems!.
I'm not sure if they do anything else!.
Some people never need them!.
Other people need them the whole time they have braces!.
Hope I helpedWww@Answer-Health@Com
