Tooth extraction question....?!

Question: Tooth extraction question!.!.!.!.!?
uh,ok!.!.!.!.!.my mandibular second molar on the right side of my mouth has fallen to pieces basically above the gum line, this happened originally in 2004 and I was supposed to get it taken out however my father kept cancelling every appointment for no reason even though I was in pain!.!.!.!.all was quiet on the toothy front until about 3 days ago, a small piece broke off again and the gum in the very back of my mouth started to encroach into where the piece used to be, I am not sure if there is an infection or if its just swelling but I cannot close my jaw completely without being in pain from biting the gum!. I think there is also a small aboscous within!.!.I am trying to get my parents to make an appointment to finally extract this evil tooth, my question is what will the process be of the extraction seeing as the problem has been dragged out for so many years!? I am absolutely terrified of needles, to the point of fainting but I know it is a necessity!. If I know the process I am not as scared!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Heya, I know what you're feeling!. I had the same thing, (on an upper molar) happen, (although it was my fear of dentists that prevented me going)!.
If you have an Abscess on the tooth - or at the root of the tooth, where they normally start, it is VITAL that you go and see a dentist ASAP!. Is there any way you can make an appointment without your father, or get their health care card or something!? Abscess might not be so bad right now, but what can happen to them- is they spread, and if they start spreading into the facial tissue you'll see a large amount of swelling in the cheek or surrounding area, which is a VERY serious sign that needs to be checked out that day if possible!. (Don't leave it too long!. I don't want to scare you but leaving an untreated abscess in your mouth can lead to such problems as meningitis and blood poisioning, so get to it before then! and don't stress!.!.!. That isn't happening now, or you'd know!. Large facial swelling, sweating, fevers, extreme headaches are the signs of those serious complications!.)
Needles at the dentist aren't scary at all! I was petrified before hand, and they rubbed this funky numbing gell over the spot, and then injected me with the stuff!. I wont lie!.!. You do feel it, you feel a pin prick that lasts all of half a second!. It really doesn't hurt! Once that kicks in (they give you a few minutes) you may opt to have Nitrous Oxide (happy gas!)!. It's not designed to be a pain reliever as such, but a calmer!. It makes you sleepy-ish and almost giddy!. You wont usually fall asleep, but it's a relaxant!. Very good idea to have if you're at all anxious!.
As the tooth has been broken off at the gum line, a while ago- the gum will have started to heal over the top!. This isn't a big issue, they'll work around it!.
If at all it's in the way, they'll make a tiny tiny cut, which you wont be able to feel! If you do feel ANY pain what so ever, make sure to put your hand up and let them know, they'll stop and then they'll inject you with some more Local Anesthetic!.
They'll break the tooth into sections as it's broken at the gum line (so they can't just grab and pull with their plyers!)!. You'll feel a bit of pressure (no pain, just pressure) as they try and break it into three or more pieces!. You'll feel as though they're hammering!.!. The worst part I have to say is the sound!.!. I recommend you bring an i-pod or mp3 player to listen too!. It's kinda gross the sound!.
When that parts over (takes no longer than 10 minutes at the most), they'll let the tooth fall out (what's remaining of the roots) and ask you to bite on a piece of guaze for a few minutes to stop the bleeding!. The biting on gauze bit feels a little strange, with no tooth there and the local anesthetic still in full swing, but nothing else!
Then, that's it! The hole will be a little bigger than that of a normal extraction, with the tooth having been broken off at the gum some time before extraction- but that's nothing to worry about!. There will be some minor bleeding for the next few hours (up to 48 hours) but they'll give you guaze to keep biting on!. When it bleeds more than a drop or two, bite down for ten minutes, then take it away!. The local should wear off in a few hours, and then you'll need to take pain killers!. I suggest taking one just before the time the dentist says it will wear off, so you don't have any gap of discomfort!.
For me, I didn't need to take any painkillers, but apparantly I have some kind of high pain threshold!.!.!. and most people Do need those pain killers!.
Don't worry! It's not so bad! You'll be fine!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to get it fixed!. If you ignore it too long you can develop heart problems or die from the infections!. Many dentists nowadays are so skillful you won't even feel the needle!. Some even have an automated 'needle gun' that is very gradual and numbs it very well!. I go to Dr!. Shippe in Nashville, TN and have never felt a shot yet!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
