I was 51 when I got my braces!. Yes, there are a lot of food which get stuck in my braces!. But it does not keep me from eating them!. The ortho should have given him a list of foods not to eat!. Anything else should be okay!. I do stay away from nuts, candy, sweets and chips!. But other than that he should be able to eat just about any foods!. He might just have to cut it into very small pieces!.

I agree with the others who have said get him a waterpik!. I use mine at night!. I use the waterpik then and anti-plaque rinse then I brush my teeth rinces with an anti-cavity rinse and finally I floss!.

At work I take a small cup for rinising my teeth and my toothbrush into the bathroom after lunch and swish and brush then swish again!.

The less he babies them the faster the pain will go away!. The best source for answers is the web site archwired!.com!. It is a wealth of information!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

mashed potatoes, i know hes fussy but you can flavor them any way he wants, they are easy enough just to put in and just swallow, if you have ham or a beef and he cuts it into small squares he can eat it really easy and he can chew with the back of his braces!. But mostly find out what he wants to eat any type of leaf food will get stuck, but you can buy these things in the tooth brush issle that look like really really small toilet brush things that fit inbetween the wire and the bracket, you can put them in your pocket or purse, but braces are tricky you really dont have a whole lot of options, and dont make anyting that he has to use his front teeth to bite in, like ribs or apples they will brake the bracket and you have to pay for emergency visits and they arent fun!.
