Answers:
how does she know this!?

I would take it to the office manager first!.

Many times, the room is cleaned before the patient walks in!. I would get my facts straight before stirring any trouble!.

Most things in the room are one use only and disposable and inexpensive for the dentist to replace!.

if there was a breach in contamination, then call your local OSHA officer!. As of right now, it's her word against theirs and she has no proof!.

and then the second step is to contact your local district dental society!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I realize that this is most likely a stressful and alarming event for you and your wife, understandably so!. However, you will want to act on this with a clear head, having all of your facts straight!.

1!. Ask your wife to calmly describe to you what she saw that made her believe the needle and suction was contaminated with another patient's blood!. If there is a case here, she'll need to be able to clearly recall and describe these details!.

2!. If after doing this, she is still absolutely convinced that there was indeed blood from another patient, a good place to start would be the American Dental Association, and your Dental Insurance provider!.

3!. Reassure your wife that the chances of becoming infected with HIV or any virus for that matter, are very small!. A bacterial infection would be more likely, but even that is slim!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Infection control guidelines are very strict on dentists!. If a dentist is violating them, you would need to contact the state dental board in your state!.

HIV would be the least likely disease she could catch!. The lifecycle of HIV won't allow it to live outside the body for very long!. Hepatitis B would be easier to catch than HIV!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

She can only get the HIV virus if the previous patient has it!.
In that case, since it is blood to blood contact, if the patient was + it is a large possibility!.

Same with other viruses that are blood to blood transferable!.

YOUR DENTIST IS AN IDIOT!.
HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE!.

But the odds of that are VERY slim!.
You should have your wife get tested soon!.
I would hire an attorney and sue for malpractice!.
But what do I know, I'm only sixteen :)Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is possible! File a complaint with the American Dental Association, and your local health dept! have her consult her Dr!. and tell him what happened!Www@Answer-Health@Com
