Question: Wisdom teeth !.!.!. numb!?
I had my wisdom teeth removed today!.!.!. was totally knocked out by a local anesthetic!. Half of my lip (right side) is still really numb and the right side of my chin is numb!. I didn't know if that's where the oral surgeon may have injected me or not!?

I know there is possible nerve damage but I still wanted to know if anyone experienced the right side being numb after everything else wasn't numb!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
First!.!.!.Do NOT use a straw as one of the answers suggest!
A straw causes sucking motion which can dislodge the blood clots forming in the sockets!.!.!.if they dislodge you will get a dry socket and dry sockets are painful!

Second!.!.!.It is not uncommon for one side to stay numb longer than the other side!. The dentist may have use a longer acting anesthetic or just more on that side!. Or perhaps he numbed that side after the other side!.

Yes, it is possible that when the injection on the right side was given that perhaps some pressure was applied to the nerve and it has been affected by that pressure!. When this is the case usually the feeling will gradually regenerate on it's own!. If you stay numb into the day tomorrow go back to the doctor that performed your surgery and let him/her counsel you as to what to do!.

More than likely you will begin to feel tingling soon and shortly after the area will feel normal again!.
