It would be helpful to take a fun book to the dentist or maybe even listen to music while waiting!. The key thing to remember is nothing bad will happen to you!. The dental office is a really friendly place and their job is to serve you and maintain the health of your teeth!. You will receive countless benefits from going to the dentist, so do not avoid going!. If you feel you are having an anxiety attack it helps to breath deeply from your stomach than from your chest!. Breath slowly, hold your breath a bit and then slowly exhale!. Bring a friend with you or a family member as well!. Best of luck to you!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Be very clear to your dentist that you have extreme fear and ask for all options, they have many ways to accommodate!. Envision how you would like your appointment to go and meditate on a positive experience rather than the what if's! I used to be very afraid and now I am a very understanding hygienist, believe me, we only want to help so please let your dentist know you are very apprehensive! Best wishes!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello, First let me assure you that 98% of practicing dentist are very aware that most patients are very apprehensive about being subjected to any level of pain!. Knowing that they make every effort to make your dental experience totally painless!. To accomplish that they have a number of way's to keep you comfortable and as near to pain free as possible!.

Many patients are fearful that they will need a numbing injection and that it will cause pain!.!.!.the fact is very very few numbing injections cause pain!. In some cases you may feel more of what can be described as a little pinch sensation!.

For patients with really bad fear issues the dentist can provide a number of procedures to help that out!. They range from giving you a pill that you take an hour before coming to the office to calm you, to placing a small mask over your nose and letting you breath in Nitrous Oxide, a gentle gas that works like a tranquilizer!. If however you have real issues with being awake during dental procedures, many dentists are able to give you a general anesthetic and you take a nap with the dental work is being done!.!.!.!.Really fast acting anesthetics along with highly developed equipment for performing such procedures as preparing a cavity filling also provide more comfort levels for the patient!.!.!.!.!.!.For many years the dentist has suffered from and old poll result!. The poll taken gave people words and ask them to say the first word that came to mind when they read a word on the poll page!.!.!.When most people saw the word "Dentist" the first word that came to mind was "PAIN"!.!.!.!.That poll was taken many many years ago and like an old mothers tail it just seems to live on and on, even though that is no longer the opinion of the majority of patients who see their dentist on a regular basis!.!.!.!.Realistically, today the word association for Dentist should not be pain but could justifiably replaced with "Money"!.!.!.Like all health providers, the cost of going to your MD or your DDS can get deep into your pocket, especially if you don't have insurance to cover the service!.!.!.!.Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I too am terrified of the DDS!. I also work for an orthodontist putting braces on!. Irony much!?!?!?!? When I even go to get my teeth cleaned I have someone drive me and I take a 10mg Valium!. Then they gas me!.!. put lidocaine gel on and numb my mouth!. That's just to clean my teeth!. I am a baby!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
