First they drill and scrape out all of the decayed, ruined tooth structure!. Then they make the hole into a good shape for retention of the filling material if they are using amalgam (metal filling), or they etch and prepare the surface of the "hole" in order to use the composite (tooth colored) filling!. Amalgam comes in little capsules that keep the components separate from each other until you break the barrier and place it in a special machine that rapidly shakes the capsule to mix the materials into the proper state!. Composite requires a special light to cure or harden the material!.

There are 2 materials used for filling!. Amalgam and White !?Acrylic not sure if its acrylic but it's white in color and no one will notice it!. The Amalgam is part Mercury with a little Silver thrown in!. Why would anyone put Mercury in their teeth is beyond me!. I had all my filling replace with the White!. Many dentists will tell you there is no danger, which I do not believe!. Mercury is toxic in any amount!. White fillings are the same price as Mercury and are just as durable!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
WELL IF YOU CARIES, THEY NEED TO FILL IT UP, IF THEY DON'T DO IT THEY EXPOSE THE PULP !. THEY THE PULP IS EXPOSED YOU WILL NEED A ROOT CANAL, OR IF IT'S TOO BAD A TOOTH PULLED OUT, SO YES, GET THOSE CAVITIES FILLED UP, YOU ARE BUILDING UP BACTERIA WHILE YOU WAIT!.
