Question: If you are wearing braces do you need to wear a special mouthguard!?
I am about to play hockey but also about to get braces!. Will I need a special mouthguard and how much will the moulding cost if this is the case!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

When my sister had braces, she started to play baseball, so the orthodontist had to make one up for her!.
I believe it's really hard to find a mouthguard which fits over your teeth with braces!.
Orthodontists can make them up for you and I'm not quite sure how much it costs but it's pretty expensive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes you will need to wear a mouthguard whilst in braces and playing any sport!. The orthodontist will definately we able to make you up one and im sure that you will have to pay a fee for it!. It would be unusual for this to be included in the cost!. It shouldnt be more than a couple of hundred, less im sureWww@Answer-Health@Com

With hockey you will definitely need a mouth guard!.
It will be even more important with the braces than without!.
The mouth guard may be included in your treatment!.
It may cost a little extra!.
Ask your orthodontist when you see him next!.
