Yes they hurt and you will have a lisp!. When I first got them I couldnt speak for about 2 weeks or so!. After that I had a lisp and people couldnt understand me!. I will be getting another one in a few months!. But I am looking forward to it!. Ever since they took the expander off and pulled a tooth out on one side, one of my cheeks looks bony and my face became thinner because my arch became thin(Which is not normal for me, a round face is normal for me)!.!.!.!. So they will put in a new expander to help me get my round face shape back and push my molars back to where they belong and I will get an implant!. My orthodontist left me with a bony cheek!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. So I am switching orthodontists!.!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well they kind of make a small little click but they dont really hurt the worst part is eating cause when i had mine i got food stuck in between the expander and the roof of my mouth dont ask how!. when you are swallowing push everything back with your tongue past the expander!. First couple of days you will probably sound weird but you will adjust

you feel a pressure instead of it hurting almost like a brain freeze sometimes!.

the best thing i can say is to tighten one time right when you get up then that time at night keep an even schedule so that everyday you do it at the same time!.

Best of luck i know you will make itWww@Answer-Health@Com

They dont really hurt but when you are tightening it, it feels like there is alot of pressure!. and they make you sound like you have a lisp at first but then you get used to it and you begin to sound pretty normal!. it may sound like you have a lisp for a few days!. Good luck i know there a pain i had mine for a year :( good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com
