Question: HELP! my elastics are causing me to have an underbite!?!!?
so i've been wearing an elastic on one side for a month, and two sides for a week, as presctibed by my ortho!. i've noticed that i'm now developing an underbite! my elastics are correcting my overbite, and spacing, but it's causing me to wake up with an underbite and have a slight underbite throughout the day! what do i do!? the orthodontist is closed until wednesday, and i can't see anyone else until then!. do i stop wearing my elastics, or do i go on!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

An underbite of about 2mm is normal and usually optimal, your lower teeth should be slightly behind your upper teeth when you bite together!. I wouldn't stop what the ortho has prescribed- there is a plan and unless you want to set yourself back a month I wouldn't just arbitrarily make a decision without the ortho's permission!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
