Concerned about dry socket packing.?!

Question: Concerned about dry socket packing!.!?
I have had a lower molar removed 7 days ago!. I developed a dry socket and a terrible odor!. I went to the dentist and they cleaned it and packed it!. The lady said that it would fall out in 3 days and has been 5 days since it was placed!. I cannot go back to that dentist or anyone else right now!. Should I remove the packing or wait until it falls out!? Everything feels great and fine!. I am just concerned that it hasn't fallen out yet!. Thanks for your input!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello there! My name is Angela and I am an Intern Dentist!.
I am concerned about your treatment!. You said that you had a bad odor!? This is a sign of infection! Were you given any antibiotics!? The packing that your dentist put will not actually fall out!. It will dissolve!. Your dentist should have given you more information about this and what to expect!. Well you say that everything is fine other than the 'Packing"!. Just remember, if you begin to experience unusual symptoms like Increased pain, swelling, or a bad odor again, you will HAVE to go back to your dentist!. No ifs and or buts! If you have any other questions or concerns, feel free to contact me via e-mail as I will be happy to help you as best as I can!! Good luck! and I hope this answer helped you some!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

If it is not bleeding you are usually able to remove it!. You may want to remove it given that infection could set up, and you'll develop dry socket again!. Bacteria love moist dark places and that foul odor may be a result of over bacterial growth!.

I highly advise you to contact the office!. For that you do not have to go back into the office!. Just tell them when you were there, what they did for you, and ask what you should do!. Tell them you can't return!. They will let you speak with someone and tell you straight over the phone or call you back!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I wouldn't remove it, as it is protection over the bone socket!. if you remove it you could risk dry socket again from the exposure to air and bacteria in your mouth!. You could gently rinse with salt water if it bothers you!. If not leave it in and call your dentist when they open, they can advise you accordingly!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
