Heya Matt,
First of all can i first reassure you that muscle tighness after wisdom tooth extraction is totally normal and it varies in degrees, depending on the person!. To get rid of this, i know its hard but you have to open your mouth to where it was before, and do that a few times, gradually you will find you will be able to open your mouth with no discomfort, to the degrees you could before!. Get in touch with your dentist on who will advise you further on mouth exercises, to get you back to your norm!.
You also could have a bone inflammation!. If it were an infection you would see swelling!. If no swelling then you could have some inflammation to the muscle itself!.
My suggestion is to have your dentist refer you to a local oral and maxillofacial surgeon for an evaluation!. Any further questions, feel free to contact me!.

Hope i helped

It happened to me!. The way I solved it was: I bought a chewy oatmeal cookie and I chewed it!. It hurt like crazy but it allowed the muscle to "unknot"!. I did it a couple of times and every time I felt that pain coming back (3-4 times)!. The LAST thing you need to do is avoiding using your hurting muscles!. It only makes it worse!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You need to go back to the oral surgeon who removed your wisdom tooth!. They are legally liable for fixing your post-surgery problems!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Then revisit your dentist for them to check it out, nobody else can do anything about it or give you advice apart from the dentists!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

On lighter side, by not opening your mouth you may have decreased any chances of arguments in the house(ie if u have any)Www@Answer-Health@Com

This doesn't sound normal to me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
