Question: Do specialty retainers cost more than regular ones!?
I'm just wondering!. I want a pink retainer with light pink stars on it, if i get to choose!. would this cost more than the one your orthodontist would normally give you!? say, just a skin coloured one!? How much more!? this is a very difficult answer!. it all depends on your orthodontist and the lab he/she works with!. in the office i work in, you can choose a variety of colors!. clear, clear colored, glow-in-the-dark colors, and solid colors!. we even have some designs!. we do have some "ad-ins" that our patients can choose from, but they are limited!. you may be able to pick star or stars even but don't get your hopes up for light pink ones!. ask your orthodontist for your options!. some may be able to make them for you and add on a fee!. we do not do custom retainers other then what i mentioned!. and the fee in included with the braces fee!. however, if they are broken or lost or do not fit due to not wearing them, the cost to remake them is $160 each!. also just a note, remember that these retainers are something that you will wear every night for the rest of your life or as long as you want your teeth to stay straight!. so make sure they aren't something you will be embarrassed by when you are older!. hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com
It really depends on the lab your orthodontist uses - as part of my dentistry course we had to make our own retainers, and got to do anything we liked within reason!. I just used gold glitter, but others I saw had cut-outs with flags in them, and one even had a photo embedded in it!. The last 2 were very time-consuming though, so if they were being made for real would definitely be more expensive!. For colours/glitter stars etc, it's really the same amount of effort, so it should cost the same as a normal one!. They might not have those materials available though!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
