Do i have to have the medicated gauze packed in because of dry socket?!
Question: Do i have to have the medicated gauze packed in because of dry socket!?
I have 2 dry sockets from 3 wisdom tooth extractions!. i had the medicated gauze put in both of them!. i find the whole procedure to be painful, the gauze leaves a terrible taste in my mouth and the gauze just fell out after a couple of hours of it being in!. i can manage the pain quite well with pain killers!. my doctor said that i might need to have it repacked in a couple days!. Do i need to have the medicated gauze for my dry socket to heal properly!?Www@Answer-Health@Com
Answers:
more and more research shows that a dry socket does not benefit from being packed with medicants!. Alot of surgeons will still pack it to help with discomfort because the medicines with the packing will have a numbing effect alot like the over the counter Ambensol!. If you can "grin and bear" it, then it shouldn't be a problem!. Just becareful on taking too many or relying too much on pain meds!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
