Why Does My Toothbrush Turn Pink After A While?!

Question: Why Does My Toothbrush Turn Pink After A While!?
I've noticed that if I use my toothbrush and put it in a case (any case, I've tried it with a few different cases), the day after, the bristles turn pink as well as random areas of the handle!. If it is not too pink and I rinse it off, the pink color goes away!. When I leave it on the sink exposed, it does not turn pink!. It only turns pink if I leave it in the case over night!. Is this a sign of gum disease or is it some sort of bacteria!? And is it dangerous!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
This sounds to me that the pink stain is being caused by another culprit than what others have already said- a bacteria called Serratia marcescens!.

Serratia marcescens will grow anywhere there is sufficient moisture- a lot of people complain of "pink stain" in their bathtubs or showers, for example!. Leaving your toothbrush in it's case overnight is only a good idea if you let it dry completely BEFORE closing it in the case!. Otherwise, the excess moisture will allow Serratia to grow!.

I highly suggest throwing away your toothbrush, and buying a new one!. Then be sure to allow it to dry completely before encasing it!.

Please take it easy!. In my opinion, there are two reasons!.!.!.!.the first is that may be you are having some sort of gum disease as a result of which the toothbrush is turning pink!. But, to me it appears more of a theoretical explanation because none of my patients have complained to me about the toothbrush turning pink and all!.!.!.!.!.!.but, may I take this opportunity to just approach a dentist to find out if your gums are fine!.

Coming to the second reason, which i have seen in many people whose tooth-brushes I have found discolored pink/red!. Please check the quality of the toothpaste/toothpowder you are using!.!.!.!.!.if the indigenous paste/powder contain some such stuff like tobacco, snuff, and red soil like stuff, then it discolors the brush!.!.!.!.!.!.!.just check the product that you are using!. By the way, all those indigenous preparations for tooth cleaning containing tobacco etc are damn risky and hazardous!.

So, please take care !!Www@Answer-Health@Com

No no no!.!.!.nothing to do with gum disease, it sounds like you have an interesting toothbrush!.!.!.!.maybe it's one of those thermal toothbrushes , that changes colour when confined!.

Are your gums bleeding and receeding or tooth sensitive, maybe exposed root areas!?!? Then you can worry about gum disease!.!.!.
for now get a new toothbrush and see what happens!.!.!.!.or better yet invest in an electric toothbrush, much more effective and excellent for people with gum disease!.

Best of luck!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
