Question for a Nurse (URGENT)! Bone infection?!

Question: Question for a Nurse (URGENT)! Bone infection!?
I had a bone scan resulting from lung cancer in 2005!. The scan reported the following: READING -- "Focal hot spot in the anterior right side of the maxilla likely related to dental disease"!. This is unusual because I don't have upper teeth!. I have a denture!. I did, however, have maxillary sinus surgery in the same year as my cancer!. Could this be a culprit!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Bone scans are often requested to check if there is bone metastasis from cancer!. When it says "hot spots", it just means that a certain area in the bone took more of radionucleotide dye than other areas being more brighter!. It may just indicate healing fractures, tumors, infections, or other processes that trigger new bone formation!. In your case, it may be due to recovery from sinus surgery!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

That is not unusual!. Because why do you have dentures!? Because you lost your teeth due to dental disease I suspect!. If your teeth fell out over time then it was caused by you not taking proper care of your teeth!. Or if they had to be pulled because of severe periodontitis (bone loss and gum disease) then that is also dental disease!. If you lost your teeth due to trauma (car accident in which all the top teeth came out) then that would be an exception!.
People lose teeth (except for trauma) due to dental disease!. Also if you dont have teeth then you are losing bone constantly!. Teeth keep bone level in your mouth at normal levels if you take care of your teeth!. However if you lose your teeth then the bone level shrinks and continues to shrink over time!. Eventually you may need new dentures because the bone level will change in your mouth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well it could possibly be that when you had your upper teeth removed the area where the teeth were held will show "shadows" on the xray as the bone did not regenerate in that area!.!.!.!. or from loss of bone from periodontal disease will also show a shadow (dark spot on the xray)!.

It should not be need for concern as they said "likely related to dental disease"!. But if it troubles you, talk to your doctor!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
