Got my wisdom teeth pulled 24 hours ago, how long do I keep doing the ice packs !

Question: Got my wisdom teeth pulled 24 hours ago, how long do I keep doing the ice packs 24 hours or 48!?
The instructions from my dentist only say first 24 hours (but dont say to either stop or to continue after that, only that after 48 hours to start with the warm compresses)!. I dont really have too much pain in my teeth, but my throat and (what I guess) is a lymph node on the right side really hurt (throat when I swallow, neck when I move my head (the area under the chin on the right side is really swollen)!.!.!.!. I'm taking motrin and penicillin!. So should I continue with the ice packs today!?

Answers:
No, you should use the hot, moist compresses and also rinse gently with warm salt water several times each day!. Try to drink plenty of fluids to soothe your throat and continue with the prescribed medications and the Motrin; both will help tremendously!.

After 24 hours the swelling that is there is there, the ice won't reduce it!. The hot compresses are used to help get the blood flowing back into the swollen tissue which will help to reduce swelling and the soreness that is causing the discomfort!. Follow your dentists instructions, he knows what is best for your particular dental condition!. Good luck with your healing, you'll feel much better in a few days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ice packs hold down swelling and often times the warm packs aren't required at all!.!.!.in fact they can cause swelling of the tissues!. Given your explanation it sounds as though you may need a more aggressive antibiotic, especially if indeed you do have a lymph gland involved!.!.!.You should call your DDS and ask if he or she thinks you should be on say, Prednazone!.!.!.Good luck and I wish you well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
