Can someone please give me some reassurance on getting my wisdom teeth out?!?!

Question: Can someone please give me some reassurance on getting my wisdom teeth out!?!!?
I have to have all 4 taken out next week!. 2 are boney impactions, the others are all the way through, so they just have to be extracted!. I am also being put to sleep through IV anesthesia, which scares me the most I think, since I have never been put to sleep!. I am just so anxious about everything!! I am also in my early thirties instead of my late teens or early twenties, and have been told it's a harder recovery!. Please, I would love to hear from someone who has had theirs out, and what it was like! Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had all 4 out at the same time, and ALSO had 4 inpacted!. I had mine done when I was 18 (10 years ago) and it was the first time I had ever been put out by IV too!
Starting at the beginning, they put the IV in while you are sitting in the dentist chair, usually with your arm strapped down (because once you are out, you don't want your arm falling off the table lol) and put sticky electrode monitors on your chest!. The IV solution sometimes feels warm/slightly burning/tingly as it goes in!. It doesn't HURT but freaked me out because no one TOLD me how it would feel!. Within 10 seconds you are out, and you will not feel a thing!. When I woke up, I was in another room laying on a bench type bed!. I had a lot of gause packed all around in my mouth, and I was sore and swollen!. I felt nauseated from all the drainage, but never got sick (might keep a bag or bucket in the car for the ride home)!. Also, you will be given a prescription for pain killers!. Whoever is driving you home can sometimes get the prescription before you wake up and have it filled before they come to pick you up, so ask! For the next day or two, I was tired and worn out, I wasn't really hungry, and I used ice packs to help with the swelling!. My husband on the other hand had his out in his mid 20s and was eating Thanksgiving dinner the next day with no swelling (he had two inpacted, and two already in)!. So it really just depends on your body how it will turn out!. Hope this helps you! It really wasn't bad, I was more worried about being put out than anything!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had the luck of having 4 wisdom teeth impacted in my gums by age 13!. They were also growing in horizontially instead of vertically, so they had to be removed or my other teeth would be pushed forward!.

The procedure itself was no big deal - but it is uncomfortable for a bit afterward and you absolutely must keep the wounds clean or you risk a dry socket!. Soft foods are key and not eating immediately afterward is my suggestion!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The time goes by without you even noticing it!. One moment they are giving you the anaesthetic, the next you are in the recovery room!. Prepare for a lot of discomfort afterwards, though!. You will need to lay in a supply of soft, smooth foods to eat -- pudding, etc!. Nothing with any texture -- it hurts to chew!
I had mine out when I was about 25!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
