Tooth Extraction with Conscious Sedation??!

Question: Tooth Extraction with Conscious Sedation!?!?
I'm freaking out! I have an appt bright and early tomorrow morning to have my top second molar surgically extracted!. Long story short I had a very bad root canal job done on this tooth about six years ago-- lost the filling and never returned!. It hadn't caused me any pain, untill about two months ago when I got an awful infection and spent a weekend at the hospital on IV of antibiotics and morphine!. Needless to say it was then determined by my dentist that I needed to see an oral surgeon ASAP and have this thing extracted!.
I know the details will be gory-- the tooth is basically a shell, and parts of it are broken off at the gumline-- which means they'll have to cut, etc, etc, to get this bad boy out!.
I've opted for conscious sedation and am concerned about it! Also the recovery time-- tomorrow's wednesday, will I have to cancel my weekend plans!
Any one who'd like to share a similar experience!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had all of my wisdom teeth removed with conscious sedation and believe me you don't feel like you are consious!

It is with an IV and they say you are in like a *twilight sleep*, but I though I was out!. When I woke up though I had to be wheeled out in a wheel chair!.

They will give you pain medication and since it is only one tooth I think you should be ok in a couple of days!. You should probably still be able to do something over the weekend, you just have to take it easy not to dislodge the blood clot because then you can get dry socket which hurts alot!. So no spitting, drinking out of straws, smoking etc!.

Good luck, it's one tooth you will be fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tell the oral surgeon that you don't want to feel any pain!.I had the same situation and the surgeon overmedicated me!.You will be sore for about 2-3 days!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I did this under General anesthesia, I would suggest you do t he same!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
