Is there any way to fix long canine teeth?!

Question: Is there any way to fix long canine teeth!?
I just had my braces removed and my teeth are all straight now!. Just the canines teeth are longer than others and that irritates me big time!.

1) Is there any way for dentists to fix that!?

2) Can a general dentist do that or I should go see a cosmetic one!?

3) Approximately how much does it cost for two teeth!?
4) Will it cause sensitivity!?

Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hello there!

Sounds like you need to have your canine teeth shaped a bit!. Your dentist can shave off some of the enamel on the incisal edge of the teeth, thus softening them, making them slightly shorter, and subtly changing their overall appearance!. This procedure, called enamelplasty, is painless, and quick, and general dentists are capable of doing this procedure!.

The important thing to know, when dealing with canine teeth, is that they are responsible for gliding up on one another when you move your jaw from side to side (with your teeth touching together)!. The upper and lower canines touch and disclude (prevent from touching) your molar and premolar teeth!. This is called "Canine Disclusion!." All of this is important because if the canines are too short and do not prevent your back teeth from touching when you grind your jaw from side to side, then you are more apt to wear down your back teeth, at a faster rate over your lifetime, opening up a new can of dental problems!.

THE TAKE HOME MESSAGE IS THIS: Your dentist needs to check your bite and focus on the occlusion of your teeth BEFORE performing enamelplasty on your canines!.

Best of luck to you and your new, beautiful smile! ;-)Www@Answer-Health@Com
