Pineapple made tongue issue worse?? Serious answers please!?!

Question: Pineapple made tongue issue worse!?!? Serious answers please!!?
So here's another theory!.!.!.a few days ago I bought a bunch of fresh pineapple because I found a "self help" remedy for Hairy Tongue syndrome on the internet!. It said that sucking on pineapple, 40 seconds at a time 8 times would help treat it!. So I tried this!. That was on Monday night!. The following day, my tongue felt raw and bumpy (on top of already having the hairy tongue issue that was from antibiotics by the way) and still is!. Could the pineapple have irritiated my poor tongue!? The whole area that I was letting the pineapple sit is what is irritated and bumpy now!. Just a thought!. By the way, Dr!. and Dentist are who diagnosed the "hairy tongue", I haven't asked them about the pineapple!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Yes, the pineapple irritated your tongue!. Your poor tongue was traumatized already, and the acidic pineapple worsened it!. Eating pineapple can help, but not holding it on the surface of your tongue!.

Typical treatment of hairy tongue caused by antibiotics is using sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) or hydrogen peroxide mouthwash; improving oral hygiene; brushing or gently scraping the tongue; and eating roughage and fresh fruit!.

Want a very good (although a bit medically technical) article on hairy tongue!? http://www!.emedicine!.com/derm/TOPIC639!.H!.!.!.

Your doctor and/or dentist need to know you're having this condition due to antibiotics!. It's always possible it's a thrush (fungal) infection!.

Thank you for an interesting Question!. I had heard about this but had never researched it before!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm not exactly sure, but it is definately possible that the pineapple made it worse because it is acidic!. It could also be helping, although that's probably less likely!. You really should've talked to the doctor before trying a remedy found on the internet!. I'd go back to the doctor to make sure everything is all rightWww@Answer-Health@Com

well i have heard of hairy tongue from antibiotics, but i don't know what it is!. whenever i eat pineapple though, my tongue gets raw like sandpaper was rubbing it!. i am probably not much help, but just so you know, it happens to me too! pineapple is weird, maybe the acid in it!? it happens to my coworker too!. Good luck :PWww@Answer-Health@Com

The acid in the pineapple most likely irritated you!. I would ask the Dr!. if there is anything that can help because it IS REALLY annoying, I feel for you!.

It will go away, are you done the antibiotic!? I would suggest a medical grade mouthwash--something minus all the added extras ie: flavor, whitenerWww@Answer-Health@Com

Yes it was probably caused by the pineapple!. Try to avoid acidic foods like pineapples, oranges, and tomatoes until your tongue recovers!. Using a tongue scraper might help with the hairyness, but only after your tongue recovers from the pineapple!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well, all I know is that pinneapple always irritates your tongue, so it might aggravated your tongue by sucking on it for such a long time!. Call your doctor and ask, the call is free!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

u should've asked!.
