Why does gum get hard when it touches any other liquid then your saliva??!


Question: Why does gum get hard when it touches any other liquid then your saliva!?!?
I was wondering cuz i noticed that if you have water or sumthin in you mouth with gum than it gets hard but when the gum is just in your mouth it stays chewy!.Why is that!?!?!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes the coldness of the liquid does have an effect in hardening your gum!. Also, some of the ingredients in the liquids you drink may have some effect in the hardening of the gum!. Whereas your saliva is warm and has nothing in it that would harden the gum!. The people who make the gum know that there is saliva in your mouth so they make it so that nothing would happen to the gums flavor or texture when it is put in your mouth!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I'm pretty sure it's because the water is cold, at least colder than your mouth!. Gum is more pliable when it's warm, so drinking cold water makes it harder!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
