If you are referring to amalgam fillings then yes!. Don't believe all the hype that people go over board with! Yes they have a very small amount of mercury in them!. However, it is NOT dangerous to your body because it is in you teeth! Not your bloodstream or digestive tract! Many dentists do not usse them anymore just because the composite filling is better pleasing to the eye!. But amalgams are cheaper, and technically are a better, longer lasting, filling material!. They can last in excess of 20 years, where a composite will last MAYBE 8 years!. And each time you have to have an old filling removed and a new one put in, they have to take away tooth structure with it!. The more tooth structure removed, the sooner you will need a crown!. Yikes!
But seriously, people get so carried away with the whole mercury thing!. After YEARS and i mean "years" of long term research/studies, etc!. there is no proof that they are bad for you or cause any health problems etc!. People will get disgruntled about anything, fluoride, sweet-n-low, you name it! If you're worried about mercury, watch your fish intake! That's where you can get sick from it!Www@Answer-Health@Com
