haahh calm down! i had a root canal done when i was around 14 years old! you probably don't need one, so relax!. I broke my tooth off completely and the nerve was dangling, therefore i needed a root canal!. The worst part about it is really waiting, what you're doing now! the most painful part is the needle, which is maybe a 2 out of 10!. It is no big deal!. Just relax and after it is done your face will feel numb and weird haha!.

Hope all goes wellWww@Answer-Health@Com

No age limit for root canals!. Anyone who has a tooth qualifies!.

You don't always need a root canal just because you have decay!. It depends on how deep it is and where on the tooth it is located!.

It doesn't hurt!. It hurts before, but not during, and only a bit sore afterwards!. I would say the tenderness is about a 3 for most people!.

Root canal treatment is alot like having a cavity filled!. It just takes longer and sounds worse!.

You will be numb and comfortable for the procedure!. You might feel pushing or pressure, but not pain!. An opening is made in the chewing surface of your tooth and the dead or dying nerve is removed!. The tooth is cleaned, shaped, sterilized and filled!. Most teeth need a crown after root canal treatment, and you may or may not have preparation for that done on the same day!. You may need to come back for a second appointment, depending on what the dentist perfers!.

As far as being nervous, you are not alone!. No one really wants a root canal and it is normal to be afraid of something that has such a bad reputation!. I'm pretty sure that on the way out the door you'll be saying, " Hey, that wasn't so bad!"

If you are concerned, call ahead and make sure your dentist has laughing gas!. It won't put you to sleep, but will relax you to the point that you don't mind being there as much!. Some offices will sedate you with valium for the procedure, so you snooze lightly while the dentist is working, and wake up with your work finished and little recollection of what went on!.

Take 600mg advil before you go in (if you are able to take advil) It will help with the tenderness after the procedure!. Your dentist may give you a prescription for an antibiotic or pain medicine!. Take it as he/she suggests!.

Good luck! You'll do fine!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Depending on how badly the tooth is decayed, they usually do a root canal if it has reached the root!.
It's not all that horrible, and it takes care of the problem!. My dentist numbed me up, got in there, patched it, done!. It did hurt a bit when I got home, so they gave me some meds!. It's minor surgery, so some pain is expected afterward!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

OK, be a big boy! You will need a root canal only if the decay has reached the pulp of your tooth!. Otherwise you will need a filling!. Either way the dentist will numb your gum with some red stuff before giving you a few lidocaine injections in the gum around the tooth!. You will not feel a thing after that!. The next few days your jaws may have a dull ache from holding your mouth wide open!. Sleep well, dear!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

age dosnt matter about dental work if your tooth is decaying at the bottom it should be pulled especialy if broken cuz they could try and fill it and crown etc!.!.!. but it would fail over all and cost alot of money in the long run i advise getting it pulled its 1 tooth and it ends all pain belive me i had the smae problem doctor say i should get a false 1 put in when i turn 19Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes ppl under 18 can get them, i was 12 when i had one !.
does it hurt!? it didn't hurt when they did it to me, maybe a 3 because of a shot, but after that i felt no pain!. BTW I am a wimp when it comes to pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes people under 18 can have them, I had 2 root canals when I was eight years old!. I can hardly remember the experience now, but I don't remember it hurting during the procedure!. I know they definitely numb your mouth so naturally some pain is unavoidable but there shouldn't be excessive pain!.

You shouldn't be nervous about the dentist because really they are there to help you!. I know this is easier said then done, but if you do need a root canal, getting it done will save you much more pain!.

I'm sorry that I don't have any tips for the recovery process, but it has been eight years since I had mine so I don't remember very well!.

Also, if you are under 18 I would think a root canal would only be necessary if there was trauma, but then again I'm not an expert!.

Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Whoa! Let the dentist check this bad boy out first! It may need a simple filling!. It may need a root canal!. Regardless of what your tooth needs, it does not hurt!. You will be given some local anesthesia (a gel they rub on your gums) that numbs the area they will be working on!. Then the dentist will softly inject (in the numb area of the gum) a different kind of anesthesia that puts that section of your mouth to sleep!. It feels like a pinch!. Not really pain, just a quick pinch in your jaw!. But then you won't feel anything except the pressure!. Press down on a tooth right now!. It doesn't hurt, does it!? It's simply pressure!. The dentist will then begin working on the tooth!. If it is a filling, he or she will buzz out the decay and fill in the hole!. If you do need a root canal, the hardest part is just keeping your mouth open!. How hard is that!? The technology now allows root canals to be much faster than in the past!. They will clean out the nerve chamber and fill it up!. Easy!. Look, if you are still super nervous when you go in, tell them!. They can even give you some nitrous "happy" gas that calms your nerves!. Best of luck, cowboy! And don't forget to floss!Www@Answer-Health@Com
