Wisdom teeth removal....?!

Question: Wisdom teeth removal!.!.!.!.!?
I was referred to a dental surgeon who recommended I get all four of my wisdom teeth out!. I'm in my late 20's and three of the teeth are fine!. One tooth has broken in half and must come out!. The other teeth fit well in my mouth and are NOT impacted!. I'm told that the others might also have problems and that I need to take the teeth out before they embed into my jaw bone!.

My father had horrible problems when he had his wisdom teeth taken out!. He lost feeling in his mouth and had to learn to talk again!.

I'm obviously worried about the risks!. I'm also worried that I won't have enough teeth!. I will only have 2 molars on each side (the chewing teeth)!.

***Should I have the teeth removed!?
***For those of you who have had them removed, do you only have 2 molars on each side left!? Is that normal!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could keep the teeth and take the chance!. If there does turn out to be a problem later on, then you will be screwed!. The fact that one of your teeth is broken in half tells me your are prone to cavities!. I think it is better to get the wisdom teeth out now, because they are the most likely to rot because it is difficult to clean them, rather than waiting for them to harden into your jaw!. Then you might face the same problems your dad did!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe that wisdom teeth should come out!. But of course that is my opinion!. if your wisdom teeth are all the way out and healthy, I would get another opinion from a regular dentist!. My wisdom were just pulled out in my teens, they were going to cause problems!. The person that could tell you the best opinion is an orthodontist, his specialty is" bites' it the teeth are out of balance they end up causing all types of problems!. and he might tell you to have your teeth straightened!. I would put a lot of thought and researchWww@Answer-Health@Com

If they are well erupted, they contact perfectly with the antagonist tooth in the opposite jaw,if there is no recurrent infection in the gums around it, if there is no food impaction between them and the preceeing teeth, there is no need to get them removed!.!.!.

after removal of the wisdom teeth, only two molars are left on each quadrant of the jaws, that is perfectly normalWww@Answer-Health@Com

At 36, I still have mine,as long as crowding is not a problem,I would keep them, dentist always want to yank them ,probally a money grab,at 70 you'll wish you had them all!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed two years ago and I have had absolutely no problems with my mouth!. I did have swelling and bruising afterwards but of course this is normal and will go away after about a week!. My dentist had told me if I didn't have them removed they would have moved my nice, straight teeth (b/c I had just gotten my braces off) and for this reason I decided to have them removed, because I wanted to keep my teeth nice and straight!. I believe its up to you and how you feel about your teeth!. Don't go with just what the dental surgeon says because they might just be out to make money but if you feel the need to take them out (like I did), go for it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I have a small mouth and had to have all wisdom teeth removed plus four bicuspids!. I simply didn't have room for them!. There was nothing wrong with my wisdom teeth and I had them out in my 20's!. I had them extracted all at once and yes it hurt really badly that day and my face swelled up like a hamster with loaded cheeks!. After the healing, which went well, I was fine!. I experienced no loss of feeling or any of the bad side effects your father experienced!. My husband, who has a large mouth, no jokes intended, also had his out and had no problems, except embarrassment when he called for his momma upon waking!. He had a general anesthesia and I had a local---ALOT OF LOCAL---but I was REALLY happy!. I've always said they could have cut my leg off and I'd of still been happy!.

With that said your dentist is probably correct with their recommendation but get a second opinion if you would feel better with one!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes, it is very common for adults to have their 1st and 2nd molars, and not necessarily their 3rds!. Generally speaking, we don't have much use for our wisdom teeth!. Most of our chewing is performed by the 6- and 12-year molars!. I am very sorry to hear about your dad's experience!. Your father's case, as devastating as that must have been for him, is rare!. Yes, there is a chance the surgeon will nick one of the nerves!. Again, it is rare!. Here's what you need to consider: Is everyone (dentist/surgeon) on the same page regarding your 3rds!? If so, then definitely consider it!. They would not recommend extraction if they do not think you really need it!. Also, the longer you wait to have them out, the less "spongey" and resilient and, well, young your bone will be!.!.!. which makes it much harder on you and the surgeon when they do need to come out in the future!. It is a more difficult recovery if you wait!. Usually, they recommend doing them all at once so you don't have to go through more than one surgery!. If you still have concerns, voice them to your regular dentist and the surgeon!. If you are still unsure, there is no problem with getting a second opinion!. In the end, it is your mouth, your body!. The professionals can only give you their opinions based on the facts *and teeth* in front of them!. It is your decision at the end of the day!. Best of luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
