DICOM format Dental question?!

Question: DICOM format Dental question!?
I had digital x-rays taken and they are in what is known as DICOM format!. It's a proprietary format, but there are readers for windows out there for this format!. When I asked for a copy of my x-rays I was given a print out copy, not the actual machine readable format ( dicom format)!. I can take these to a dentist, but they really won't be able to use them!. Legally don't they have to give me the x-rays in machine readable format!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
No they can give it to you in print out format!. Machine readable can be altered by the patient so it needs to be in print which is the legal format!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
