Were fillings right for me?!

Question: Were fillings right for me!?
I recently had some composite resin fillings on some of my molars!. I had old sealants that were chipped away and no all-out cavities as I understand, but I did have a little bit of "stickiness" as they say!. It had been almost 10 years since I had the sealants put on or any dental work for that matter, so expectedly my sealants were useless and even hazardous!.
When the dentist prepared my teeth for the fillings, I don't believe he had to drill at all!. I understand that he only used that water pressure tool to clean the grooves!. I had no anesthetic and felt no pain or discomfort (except in one tiny spot, mild discomfort)!. Now I'm wishing I would have asked for more details about how it went down!. The reason I'm asking is because I happened across a website that touted sealants, saying it and continuous dental checkups and consistent home care is all one needs!. It also mentioned that fillings can increase the risk for cavities!. Did I just ruin my teeth!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Fillings used after removal of a cavity may increase the risk for cavities after a few years of use!. This is because the filling is in the space meant for your natural tooth to be!. Since they did not drill any of your actual tooth (if they did you would definitely know), the filling on top of the tooth, not in it, acts as a sealant!. However, if your tooth decays around the filling over time, there is a good chance that a cavity will form under the filling!. To answer your question, no, you did not ruin your teeth!. The fillings will protect against decay better than your natural enamel, so you probably made a wise decision in getting them done!. You just have to be very careful about taking care of them!. Brush them at least twice a day, and once a day floss and use a restoring mouthwash with fluoride!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
