At this point, the gum might be tender to touch and if you really chomped down on something hard- but it shouldn't be that painful!. It could be that you have a splinter of tooth or bone in the site that is causing your discomfort!. It might be a good idea to have your dentist take a peek and make sure things are still going well!. If it is a piece of tooth or bone he may find it on an x-ray and be able to remove the offender- which would make matters a lot more comfy for you!. Gums at this point might be a little swollen and tender, though- there is still a lot of healing going on in the area!. Most folks are closer to 10 days or 2 weeks post extraction before it doesn't bother them at all!. Until then, chewing solid food can be a bit of a trick!. The best I can suggest is to cut the more solid foods into very small bites - toddler size at least, or say smaller than half a dime, so there is less work required on the remaining molars and less pressure needed to crush it!. If the pain is not just restricted to the gums, though- and feels as if it is beneath the extraction site in the bone area, then you really do need to see the dentist!. That's sign of a dry socket, and needs attention to help the bone heal and relieve your pain!. Good luck, and consider seeing your dentist again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
