Answers:
Fluoride does help maintain the integrity of tooth enamel, but it doesn't "only" happen when you brush your teeth!. A small amount of fluoride is retained in your saliva and is also absorbed to some degree by dental plaque, and this fluoride has a topical effect on the enamel!. Prescription toothpastes and varnishes are designed to be left on the teeth after brushing rather than being rinsed away, allowing the fluoride to be on the teeth for longer!.

Fluoride works better the longer is it in contact with the teeth, hence the lower rate of decay in fluoridated water areas, but I doubt there's a significant difference between brushing your teeth for 5 minutes and brushing them for 10!. Brushing your teeth for 10 minutes might put you at higher risk of eroding your enamel through over-zealous brushing!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Toothpaste only helps clean the teeth but it doesn't make them harder!. The teeth are already hard; if your teeth are soft you need to see a dentist!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
