WELLL! I think your fear is based on the fact so much is going to be done in such a short period of time and because you dont go on a regular basis!. Teeth cleaning should be done every 6 months- at least!. Your molars are probably what they will be removing and if they are the "wisdom" or 3rd molars it is the best idea to get them out!. But first they should be taking an xray of all of your teeth to see the position--called a Panoramic xray!. No pain there!. just a cool machine that revolves around your head not touching you except for a small bite stick you'll need for positioning!. Ask them to show you your teeth! This is a Very common procedure because there usually isnt enough room in your mouth for them to fully erupt--or "come in"- totally through the gum!. Leaving them in can present lots of problems in your future, such as, pain, decay, teeth shifting or infection!. If you have chosen to see an oral surgeon, he/she will probably use medication to put you asleep!. You will feel nothing!. Afterward, the most important thing to remember is to do exactly what is prescribed!. Take any meds you are given just as your told to, and for how long!. Use of ice packs on the outside of your mouth is helpful with pain, swelling and possible bruising!. Do not participate in any strenous activity for 24 hours!. If there are stitches (sutures) always remember to return in apprx i week for their removal!. Any SEVERE pain - esp after 24 hours (pain that increases instead of decreases) is not normal and you should be seen by the dentist!. You could have a dry socket!. Do NOT drink through a straw or smoke!. All of this info would/should be given to you at the office!. They may also be able to use Nitrous oxide for your anxiety for the cleaning!. this will not put you asleep but help take the "edge" off and has absolutely no lasting effects!. if used, you will be given a mask to cover your nose attached to some hosing on a tank that also has oxygen mixed with the nitrous!. Also, you could be prescribed another type of med for calming your nerves but you will need to have someone else with you for driving home!. Ask them any questions you may think of, and if they are good, they will be happy to answer them all!. As far as the cleaning goes, you may have some minor discomfort afterwards because you most likely will have tartar and plaque buildup from not going! The hygienist will also check your gums and the doc should do a complete oral exam!. They will check each tooth for decay too!. Use warm salt water rinses after the cleaning as often as you like-it will help with any pain!. Please do not stop going back for regular visits!. Its the key to a healthy mouth AND body!. Mouth infection can make you sick!. You sound like youre on the right track !.!.!.good luck!. As far as braces, ask why you need them and have them explain the reasons!. Mostly, they are used to help your teeth fit together better for chewing and ease of cleaning!. they do not hurt!. they may be uncomfortable to get used to bec your cheek or gum may be irritated!. There are worst things to worry about!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They will numb it and then you will not feel any thing trust me i know what you are going Thur!.And it will not hurt at all so don't worry!.I have braces and this is what they are going to do!.they are going to put some stuff on your teeth!.and then they will use a blue light to dry it!.It does not hurt when they put them on!.but after it hurts very bad!.For the pain take Tylenol or ibuprofen and put an ice pack on your face and that will numb the painWww@Answer-Health@Com

Why are you scared of the dentist!?

Having a tooth pulled is no big deal!. They will probably freeze up your mouth and then you won't even feel it!. It doesn't hurt!. It's just boring is all!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Try to find a dentist that will put you to sleep!.It is the only way to go!. By the way,IF you do that,MAKE SURE someone goes with you and is in the room during your sedation!. Good luckWww@Answer-Health@Com

its just like a shot but in you gums you won't feel a thing after thatWww@Answer-Health@Com
