Not following directions may result in broken braces, longer treatment time and more chances of cavities!.!.!. Sure some people get away with it and no consequences, but maybe they were just lucky!. Gum can pull your brackets off or even pull your arch wire out!.!.!. and if some sticky residue is left stuck around your brackets you have an increased risk or getting cavities!. The same goes chewy caramel and other really chewy stuff!. Hard things can cause your brackets to fall off which leads to longer treatment time, more office visits and maybe even more money!. Also popcorn kernels can irritate and inflame your gums which will make it more painful to brush and floss and will lead to an increased chance of cavities!. I've had popcorn kernels get wedged in my gums without braces on and if you don't realize they are there, they get painful =( Yes, physically, after your teeth feel back to normal, you can eat those things, but do you really want to risk it!?! Churros and bagels, eat bite sized pieces that you place in the back of your mouth first!. Cheese puffs should be fine because they almost melt away, plain chocolate!.!.!. you can eat a lot of stuff, just keep them bite sized, not too chewy and not too crunchy!. Too chewy = caramel, but the liquid ice cream topping kind is fine, snickers bar, Too crunchy = fortune cookies, hard candies (sucking them is ok), doritos

Here is a site that gives you info on what you can eat

food stuff to be avoided for those using braces include: extra hard food stuf, sticky food, high sugar food stuff, chewing gums, u should understand that eating of this stuff once wont make problems with brackets immediately, but its effects is accumulative, meaning it will make small problem today, small problem tomorrow, !.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. adding those problem will lead to big problem one day, avoiding it is betterWww@Answer-Health@Com

I had braces and I ate everything and anything I wanted to and never had a problem!. I think you would know if something you were eating was too hard or chewy!. Just use your judgement and eat whatever you want!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

your not suppose to have gum because it gets stuck on your braces and it could brake them!.

You can have anything that isn't sticky or chewy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
