Answers:
For strength and longevity!.!.!.amalgam and gold last the longest!.!.!.!.20 years or more!. Amalgam is a lot cheaper than gold and can be done in one appointment as gold would be a least 2!. Amalgam does contain mercury, but after 150+ years of use, no one has scientifically proven any ill effects!. ADA supports use of amalgam as an inexpensive and long lasting filling material!.
For esthetics!.!.!.white composite!. They hold up well in front teeth where there is more enamel than dentin so they get a good bond!. In back teeth where there is more dentin than enamel they don't bond well and so may last 5-7 years!. All shrink and so microleakage is a real concern!.
A composite or porcelain inlay or onlay is white and strong and will also last 20 years or so, but are expensive and require 2 visits unless your dentist has a CAD/CAM or Cerac machine in office!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

try to avoid silver which contains mercury!. Get a tooth colored resin filling!. It May cost a little extra, but it is worth it!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Get a board certified dentist, hopefully one who a friend has recommended!. Then trust what a medical doctor tells you!.!.!.not some Yahoo on Yahoo!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
