Question: Do having braces requires a dentist's supervision!?
lets say i have an aunt that is a dentist, but she is in the Philippines while im here in the US!. if i got visit and ask to get me braces, do i need a regular check up!? or is it like, i keep my braces for a number of months or years, then go back to philippines and get it off!?

Yeah, you'll have to get them worked on every month or so for a couple years before you get them off!. Maybe have your aunt put them on and see if there is a local orthodontist who can do the "in between work"!. It's worth checking and could save you a ton of money!. you still have to go for regular check ups to the dentist for cavities, cleaning etc and the orthodontist for tightening and changing of wires etc!. Your better to get everything done in the US!.
If you get braces in the philippines, then have check - ups in the US or vice versa, files will have to be transfered to the practises so the orthodontist knows your progress!. Its just a pain to do all of this!.

Yes!. The braces need to be periodcaly adjusted or they would just hold your teeth in the same place!.
You might contact some dentists near you and see what they would charge for the required maintenance!. If they are aware that you couldn't otherwise afford the braces at all they may be sympathetic and give you a good deal!.

You usually go back every few weeks, just to make sure they are working right, and that they aren't growing into your gums in the back!.!.!. That does happen some times!.!.!. You would want to get them at a local dentistry so you can go back for check ups!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com
no they have to be adjusted regularly meaning tightened and then when they are ready to come off it is better the same orthodontist does it because he or she will know for sure that they are ready to be removed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You need to go get monthly checkups to tighten the elastics, to make sure you teeth end up getting straightened!. Without it they'll just stay the same!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
