Question: Can i go to the er for toothache
I have a huge cavity on the bottom row in the back of my mouth!. The pain is unbearable!. I can't sleep or eat or anything!. I am very much comtemplating going to the ER just to relieve the pain!. But upon doing some online research, i'm afraid they will just look at me as an addict or seeker!. The pain has moved up to my ear and is throbbing badly!. I've tried home remedies, and nothing seems to work!. I'm afraid of being turned away or being treated unfairly due to how I look, complaining of a DENTAL emergency in a place for MEDICAL emergencies!. I'm open to any input, and just want to get rid of this godforsaken pain!. I'm really afraid that infection may be spreading!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

OMG i know exactly how you feel!. i have been exactly where you are and it bites, huh!? but i did go to the ER and i was treated wonderfuly! tooth pain is something everyone can relate to and understands how painful it can be!. i wouldn't hessiate to go!. esp!. if you have an infection! the antibiotics will help the pain more than pain medication will help!. they may give you a local for the pain such as a shot in the gum or they may give you a gel to apply!. i was given a gel, 10 Lortabs the 5!.5 ones and penicillan and a refferal to a dentist!. if by chance you are treated badly by whom ever you see, (going to er can be a cr*p shoot) than stay calm and ask to speak to the attending dr and restate your case and reexplain your dillema!. gd lk! i hope all goes well for you! and get that tooth out as soon as you are able!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
I was in the same situation a year ago exactly!. It was a Friday night, so obviously I had to wait until Monday!.
If you went to the ER, they may give you a hydrocodone or 2!. But, you'd have a crazy ER bill!. Until you go to the dentist and get a prescription, I'd say take 4 ibuprofen every 4 hours (if you're not allergic)!. It won't completely relieve the pain, but it will help!. That's what my dentist recommended when I had a root canal!.

you really need to go to the dentist!. The ER can give pain medicine but will not fix the problem then you will jusy need pain medicine again and again unless you get it taken care of!. You need to get a filling which is not bad but if you have waited too long the tooth may need to be pulled! I am being serious! Get to a dentist asap!. same thing happened to me on a sat!. night!.!.so i went to the er-they can do nothing but give you pain meds and those did not even take the edge off for me!.!.!.!.who cares what they think about you anyway!?!?!?if the pain is that bad!.!.maybe the meds will work for you till you can get to the dentist-but er bills are astronomical and then you will have a big ole dental bill too!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Go to the ER!. They will see the cavity, and give you some antibiotics and something for the pain!. The pain meds probably wont work until tomorrow!. You have to get some of the infection out so it wont put pressure on the nerve!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Go see a dentist!. Ask if they have a payment plan or a credit program!.
Call the drugstores in your area and see if they have Percogesic!. It is over the counter and terrific for tooth pain!. My husband used it recently for a terrible tooth ache that Motrin wouldn't touch!. He has used Vicodin before (RX needed) and it didn't work as well!. Maybe you could call the health dept and see if there are any programs to help you in your area!. Here it is called "county indigent program" but it is for medical, although with a problem like yours I can't imagine that they wouldn't refer you!. Do you qualify for Medicaid!? The ER isn't going to be much help and they will leave you in the waiting room for a long time because on their list of priorities tooth pain is low!. You can get a bad infection from your tooth that gets into the blood stream if you let it go too long!.
