Benefits of "chew sticks"?!

i was in the city yesterday, (NY) and my friend gave me a chew stick!. i was surprised by the strong taste and i actually liked it alot!. so i went home and did a little research on them to find out that they're actually "natures toothbrush"!. they say that they have all the benefits of brushing your teeth with a toothbrush and all these other great benefits!. what do you think and do you think alot of it is just garbage!? (im planning on buying some and before i do i want to know if anyone thinks its just a scam!.)
