Would it be okay to drink (alcohol) before I go to the dentist?!

Question: Would it be okay to drink (alcohol) before I go to the dentist!?
Last year I went to the dentist, and they said I had a cavity!. My husband left on 15 month deployment so during that time I was too distracted to even remember the cavity!. Now my husband just got home, and I went to the dentist now they say I need to get a root canal because I didn't get my cavity filled!. I am so nervous, and I don't want to go (in 2 hours)!. Do you think if I drink (alcohol) before I go to calm down, and relax that it would be a bad idea!? I'm really nervous!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
No, that would be a bad idea!. Alcohol interferes with your ability to clot sometimes, and it is a form of anesthetic!. It can alter the way the dentist's anesthetic works!. You've had dental work before, and the shots- this will be no worse than any of that has been!. Don't work yourself up any more, that won't help!. As long as the tooth isn't abcessed, the root canal should be pretty much a walk in the park!. You will be good and numb, and won't feel a thing!. The worst of it should be a stiff backside from sitting so long!. If it comes to it, just go in and tell them you are just too nervous!. They may be able to offer you some nitrous oxide to help!. And if you have a walkman or MP3 player, take that along!. A few mellow tunes to keep your mind off your mouth will do a lot for you!. But please, leave the alcohol alone!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

i needed 2 wisdom teeth out and i was really really nervous - i did have 2 drinks before i went and i was fine - i think it really helped - i think if your healthy and have no other problems - then a couple of drinks wont do any harm - i had a root canal and i was nervous - no alcohol this time - and it was no way near as bad as people say - it is just like getting a filling but longer - hope this helpsWww@Answer-Health@Com

Do not drink alcohol before the procedure!. You have a greater chance of throwing up!. Also when you get there tell your dentist your fears he can probably give you nitrous oxide to help you relax!.
Also call his office first thing this morning and see if they can call you a prescription in for something which will relax you!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it would b thoroughly a bad idea!.there is nothing 2 get tensed!.they actually take an injection before doing it , but then u can sense the pain!.if u take alcohol, then it takes too much time 2 clot &stuffs like that!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I totally agree with 'The Mom'!. In addition to her answer, if the dentist suspects that you've been drinking, they have the right to not treat you!Www@Answer-Health@Com
