I got my wisdom teeth taken out Tuesday morning. What do I do?!

Question: I got my wisdom teeth taken out Tuesday morning!.What do I do!?
My face is super puffy, I'm hardly eating, I have to take disgusting mouthwash, it hurts to brush my teeth, I can't open my mouth, and I'm super bored!. I need ideas on some activities I can do that don't involve a whole lot of energy, ways to make the swelling and pain go down, and foods I can eat!. (I can only eat cold, soft foods that don't involve chewing!.) so far my diet includes applesauce, pudding, and jello!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all I am going to give you the answer of my experience as a 17 year old getting all of my impacted wisdom teeth pulled!. If you teeth were impacted, then yes, it is very normal for you to have swelling that much!. I looked like a chipmunk for more than a week!. I was in alot of pain, and I, like you, had to eat soft foods, which for me included pureed ravioli (try eating THAT, disgusting!) Anyway, it wasn't until around the start of the second week that I could eat normal foods again, and even then I couldn't eat stuff like steaks!.

Now the dental assistant answer: Yes, it is perfectly normal for you to be this puffy if your teeth were impacted!. To help with the swelling and discomfort, you can take Aleve (naproxin) or acetaminophen (Tylenol)!. Motrin will help with pain, but not swelling!.

As far as your boredom, it is strictly up to you!. Do the same things you would normally do when you are in a quiet mood!. As for me, I watch TV, crochet, work on stained glass art, and play solitaire on my computer!.

As for food, like I said before, I ate ravioli out of a can (pureed, but it IS a soft food, so you could probably chew just slightly and be OK)!. You can also eat stuff like soup, spaghettios, one person mentioned baby food, and macaroni and cheese is OK too (again, if you can chew just a little)!. I hope this helps!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It is normal for you to be swollen after your surgery!. Days 3 and 4 will be the worse for swelling!. You can eat things like mashed potatoes, soup, oatmeal and cream of wheat!. You don't have to stick to just cold stuff!. You should take Ibuprofen to help with the swelling!. Over the counter is fine you can take three which will equal to 600mg every 4 to 6 hrs!. Keep doing your warm salt water rinses!. As for being bored!. I play yahoo games and games on King!.com!. I have gotten really addicted to some of these games!. Hope you get to feeling better!Www@Answer-Health@Com

keep using salt water and you can suck on ice cubes!. Don't SMOKE!.!.!.

if you can stand the taste of baby food, you can eat whatever flavor you like!. Also try yogurt!.

as for activities!.!.!. scrap booking, painting, gameboy, legos or lincoln logs!. You can rent TV series from the library and have marathons!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I agree with everything Rachel J said, but just wanted to add one thing!. Alternate with ice packs twenty minutes on, twenty minutes off!. This will hopefully help with swelling!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

First of all I'd check with the dental office to see if it's normal to be super puffy after 2 days!. A certain amount of swelling would be normal but excessive swelling could indicate an infection and it may be a good idea to just go to the office and have them check!. You don't want to be suffering needlessly!. Also find the directions they gave you when you left and see if warm salt water may be on their list!. That heals faster than anything I've heard of!. Also did they tell you to ice it!? That helps with swelling!.
You should drink some milkshakes or suppliments like Ensure to get the vitamins and minerals your body needs in the meanwhile till you can eat again!. And remember this is all a tempory situation which will heal and you won't have those wisdom teeth to worry about any longer!. As far as the boredom, I guess computer games, catch up on corrospondence, maybe do some thinking about long range plans or other things you've been putting off thinking about, watch a little tv, read, chat on the phone, pray, and plan all the things you want to do to make the world a better place when you feel better!. Hope you recover soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
