Well, there is one thing you can do i have this thing it is called, CarMex and it is things that take away cold sores, and chap lips and i have it works REALLY well! go to wallgreen and it is in the chap stick department and it helps take away cold sores! it takes about 3-4 days! or less

i think you can get them from other people if you kiss them, but you can just get them randomly!. theres not really a way to avoid them, but i gargling warm salt water makes them a little betterWww@Answer-Health@Com
