It varies for every patient!. It definitely won't happen on the first visit though!. They'll probably do x-rays, take measurements of your mouth, and go over his/her plan of action with you (or your parents, you didn't say how old you were)!. This could be the first visit or the first two visits!. They'll give you an estimated cost!. Then they'll give you time to "shop around", but they'll all be around the same price!.

Some people don't go straight into braces!. Some people need headgear, spacers, lip bumper, or a "high-rack" (it's like a tiny metal box with 4 "legs" that attach to your top teeth!. There is a little pin shaped key and you have to turn it 1 1/2 turns every day for x number of weeks!. It corrects crossbite!. I had one!. They suck!.)!. And before any orthodontist will put braces on you, they make you go to a dentist to have your teeth cleaned so you don't get cavities behind the brackets!.

Like I said, don't expect it on the first visit!. I started my orthodoncture 10 years ago (at age 11)!. There were other "treatments" (lip bumper, high-rack) that I had to get before they'd put my braces on!. It took a good 6 months before they put braces on me!. Then I had them for a little over 2 years (top and bottom)!. Then I got an invisalign retainer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Here were my steps:

Ist visit: paperwork, consultation appointment, looked at teeth, determined what needs to be done, gave me price!.

2nd visit: x-rays, took poloroids of teeth, impressions

3rd visit: signed paperwork for monthly payment plan and paid down payment

4th visit: pulled wisdom teeth (yes, my ortho pulled my teeth)

5th visit: (two weeks after 4th visit): got 4 regular teeth pulled

6th visit: (week after 5th visit): Braces on, top and bottom!!

All of the above happened in the months of March -May!. It just depends if you have to have teeth pulled or fillings done, this all needs to be done BEFORE you get braces on!. Some people also require spacers before braces, I did not need those!.

only one visit, but the first one and maybe the second one will just be about talking about their plans for your teeth (how many sets of braces, retainers, expanders etc!.) with your parents!. and your parents talking about financial stuff with them!. Plus you have to take X-rays of your teeth and they'll take pics of them!. so second or third visit, you should get them on!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

On the first visit he/she usually checks your teeth and tells you why you need braces and how old you`ll probably be when they are taken out, and when they are fully put in!. I have only had my first visit so I don't know what to tell you about the secand!. Just be prepaired to hear your gonna' need some kind of surgery!. I have to get 2 screws put in my mouth then they screw on fake ones!. I almost puked when I heard that!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Okay the first visit they just take xrays and talk to you about what you want to get done and then you fill out paperwork!. I got my teeth cleaned also!.

On my second visit (yesterday) I had to get fillings done on the left side of my mouth!. It too three hours!.

On my third visit they will do the right side of my mouth!.

Then I have to go two or three more times and I will get braces!.

On the first visit they look at your teeth and make take x-rays and take molds of your mouth!. It usually takes about 3-4 visits to get ur braces on!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I used to have braces!.!.!.Got it on my 2nd visit!. I think it depends on how complicated your teeth is!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
