Has anyone else had to get their sealants drilled off, then filled again?!

Question: Has anyone else had to get their sealants drilled off, then filled again!?
I went to the dentist for the first time in years today!. I guess my sealants from when I was younger were chipping off and I have a cavity under one of them because food was getting stuck in there!.!.!. so I have to get them drilled off, then get a filling put on each tooth, kind of acting as a new sealant that is more "adult"!. It doesn't come off as easily, I guess!.

I'm so sad!. I'm 19 and I have my first cavity =[ Has anyone else had to have this done!? Does it hurt!? The doctor said she probably wouldn't have to numb me, but I'm nervous!Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's probably because the cavity is on the surface (enamel) only not on the dentin!. But if you feel anything at all when he is using the drill do not hesitate to raise your hand and tell her you need anesthetic!. We have had patients that do need sealants replaced and if they have decay underneath sealant we fill it with composite material (resin)!. Sometimes we use anesthetic sometimes we dont'!. It's ok to be nervous , but try and relax because if they give you anesthetic it won't work as well!. Good Luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, however,i had to eventually have the teeth pulled, keep your natural teeth as long as you can no matter how much pain you have to endure!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
