Question: Would i get cavities if i ate a lot of candy but took really good care of my teeth!?
i brush really carefully twice a day, rinse with listerine in the afternoon, and floss at night!. but i also love candy and eat a lotof it!. i am 17 and have never had a cavity!. the reason why i am asking this is because my mom came home from work with a huge box of lollipops, and i cant seem to stay away from themWww@Answer-Health@Com

As long as you get rid of the sugar from your mouth afterward, you should be fine!. Sugar in combination with the saliva in your mouth provide a great breeding ground for bacteria, and those bacteria produce acids that damage the enamel in your teeth!. That, in turn, eventually allows bacteria and other organisms to get into the structure of your teeth, and decay occurs!. Just get rid of the sugar quickly, and you're ok - except, of course, for the weight you may gain ;-)Www@Answer-Health@Com

There's always the possibility of cavities, even if the sweetest things you eat are fruit!. Even if you do get cavities it's not the end of the world!. I've gotten cavities, and the dentist drills them out and puts in white fillings so you can't even tell!. Don't be afraid of eating food because of cavities, especially if you take such good care of your teeth! I'm doing good if I floss once a month, and use listerine when I want my breath to smell extra good! So go ahead, eat your lolipops, it's very unlikely a box of lolipops will give you cavities!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
