Question: Why is it so bad for you to swallow toothpaste or mouthwash!?
Ive done it a few times by accident haven't we all but the containers of both mouthwash and toothpaste say if swallowed get medical help but why is it really that dangerous to do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

The fluoride in toothpaste will cause upset stomach if a large amount is swallowed!. If this happens you can drink a glass of milk to make it go away!. The positive calcium ion in the milk binds with the negative fluoride ion in the toothpaste to neutralize it!.
If you were to eat/drink a HUGE amount of toothpaste or mouthwash, like an entire tube of toothpaste or bottle of mouthwash that is when you should call poison control!. Neither is meant for ingestion so poison control will be able to tell you what to do to make it better depending on the ingredients you swallowed!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It isn't dangerous, just kind of distasteful!. Toothpaste itself is only a mildly abrasive mineral- it will pass right through your digestive system without doing harm or leaving a residue!. The minty taste comes from a flavoring agent that is edible -- often it's the same one used in chewing gum -- and will do no harm unless you happen to be over-sensitive to the taste, in which case it might make you gag!.

I think if you swallow mouth wash, it would give you a killer stomach ache!. That what I would think what happened but I'm not a doctor or anything!. And it proably just for big amounts!. Like for tooth paste, I think if it's just you squirt the whole tube in your mouth, not just a little when you are brushing!. But if your feeling bad call the doctor just to be safe!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Some mouthwashes contain alcohol!. If you are sensitive to alcohol, it may cause an adverse effect!.
