Question: Retainer after braces question!?
ok now I'm gonna have to wear my retainer 24/7!. I'm going to for the first two weeks but during school can i take it off!? its 18 hours a day with it do you think it would be ok!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

It should be okay to leave it out when you go to school!.
Make sure though that you put it in as soon as you get home!.
Using it 18 hours a day should be enough!.
The main thing is to use it on a daily basis!.
Also make sure you brush and floss right after dinner and put it in again before going to bed!.

I would ask your orthodontist!.
I know a person who's parents footed the bill for braces!. When the braces came off, he didn't really follow the instructions of the orthodontist!. His teeth started moving - the retainer wouldn't fit!. The end result is he had to get braces again & pay for them himself - But he couldn't afford to do it right away!.!.!.!. So it was several years later and during all that time, he had a big gap in his front teeth until that was he was able to put braces on again!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well some people have a permanent wire placed in so your teeth don't go back while others just have a retainer they wear sometimes!. Most people with the removable retainers just sleep with them on and take em out during the day!. But i would ask your orthodontist first!. Just make sure to keep on wearing it though because your teeth can move back and I'm sure you don't want braces againWww@Answer-Health@Com
To be honest I never used the retainers 24/7!. I only used them when I went to sleep and took them off in the morning!. Ive been doing that for 2 years without any issues!. Don't forget to put them on for very long time because your teeth will start to move to how they were originally and it can get to the point were you cant put your retainers back on and you might have to get braces again!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
You could get away with only at night Im sure!.!.!.but be sure to use it every day!. I didnt and while my top teeth are still perfect, my bottom ones are crooked again! Ach! Although definately not as bad as when I was a kid and needed the braces in the first place!.

i have a retainer and i took it out for school and sports, then put it back in after and just took it out to eat after that!.!.now im down to just wearing it at nightsWww@Answer-Health@Com
