Dentist ordered all 4 wisdom teeth to be extracted by an oral surgeon...?!

Question: Dentist ordered all 4 wisdom teeth to be extracted by an oral surgeon!.!.!.!?
only one is infected and bothering me!. None of my wisdom teeth have cut through the gums yet!. He said he thinks I should get all 4 removed just to prevent the possibility of the others getting infected someday!. I really only want the infected one removed (once the infection clears up, of course)!. Can I tell the surgeon that!? And will he listen!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Hi there! I would have to say that based on my experience I would have to agree with your dentist!. While right now only one is bothering you, they will all eventually start popping through!. The benefits in having them all removed at one time are that you will have it done and over with, one period of healing and swelling and all of the bummer stuff that accompanies this type of surgery!. Also, the x-ray that was taken is only usable for diagnostic purposes for a short time!. If you do have to go back you will be charged for the additional office visits, etc!. So, from a financial standpoint, it is definitely beneficial!. You do not have to be put to sleep to have them removed!. That is totally your choice too!. It is easier, but if it freaks you out then skip it!. Most offices offer nitrous oxide(laughing gas) as an alternative!. You're not out, but you're loopy enough that you won't be bothered by what the surgeon is doing!. If you really feel like you just want one removed it is definitely your choice!. Your oral surgeon will do whatever you want, but please tell them ahead of time!. They plan their day based on how long everything will take, and one takes less than four!. :) You can save yourself a snotty receptionist conversation!. :) Don't be pressured into doing something you don't want to do, but your dentist is probably right!. Hope this helps!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Yes of course you can!. Chances are once the others emerge they'll end up impacted and eventually infected but perhaps if you're lucky getting them removed then will be far less invasive!.

I had all mine removed, only one required an oral surgeon the others were extracted by my regular dentist!. It was done over the course of 3 visits and perhaps during a year's time!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

you can definetly let the surgeon know your concerns and ask why it would be so important to get all 4 out!.
people don't typically get only 1 wisdom tooth out, they usually take care of all 4 when they are in there, take care of business!.
with recovery time and all, i doubt would be any shorter if you got one tooth out versus 4!.
if it is a financial worry, let them know, they know all of the alternatives you can take, no one else does!.
if it is because of fear, again, let them know!.
there are lots of things that can be done to help you calm down, relax, or not even remember the whole process!.
don't be afraid to ask as many questions as you have, they are going to be treating you aren't they!?
it is your choice to go through with it isn't it!?
it is your money that they will be paid isn't it!?
most importantly, it is a matter of your health, you have every right to know their reasoning!.
good luck with that, dental procedures have improved so massively in recent years, don't take any of the horror stories into account!Www@Answer-Health@Com

ill even argee with ur dentist on this desicion to send u to an oral surgeon!.
the oral surgeon mite agree with u but he/she would rather just do all four at once!.

well i asked my dentist just to pull the one wisdom tooth that was bothering me he was like i really dont want to but i will!. i knew he was a dds so he can do that so i asked!.
that one got removed in october another one of my wisdom teeth decided to start bothering in november!.
so now each one has to removed as soon as it poses a problem and im down to only having one left!.

but if ur dentist is a dds im sure ull be able to have just the one tooth removed
